Connected Hostnames

How the Hostnames tab is organised, including the platform URL, connected hostname form, and hostname status list.

The Hostnames tab in Website Overview is split into three parts: the built-in platform hostname, the form used to add a customer hostname, and the hostname status list.

Platform Hostname

Every website gets a hosted Work Planner URL. This is the safest place to preview the site before customer DNS has been updated.

Connected Hostname

This section is for a customer-owned subdomain such as www.customer.com. The customer creates a CNAME record pointing at the target Work Planner shows, usually by following the same steps covered in Adding a Connected Hostname, and Work Planner handles routing and HTTPS after that.

Hostname Status

  • Pending DNS: Work Planner cannot see the CNAME pointing to the correct target yet.
  • Pending HTTPS: DNS is in place and Work Planner is still finishing certificate setup.
  • Active: the hostname is working and can become the primary public address.
  • Failed or Disabled: the hostname exists in the list but is not currently usable.

Only One Connected Hostname

Right now, Work Planner supports one connected customer hostname per website. That is why the add form blocks extra connected entries once one already exists and why actions such as Refresh and Remove matter on the single live record.
