Dashboard
Financial Overview Widget
How the Dashboard Financial Overview chart groups charges, payments, expenses, and tips across the selected period.
Financial Overview is the Dashboard chart that puts the main money series on one timeline. It is useful when one headline number is not enough and you want to see how the pieces move alongside each other.
What the Series Mean
- Charges: Completed charge revenue.
- Payments: Completed payments after refunds have been subtracted back out.
- Expenses: Completed expense entries in the period.
- Tips: Completed tip entries shown as their own series.
- Missed: Revenue lost to jobs marked as missed in the period. Shown alongside the other series so you can see at a glance whether missed work is shaping the total picture.
Grouping Rules
- Shorter periods: The chart groups data day by day for shorter date ranges.
- Longer periods: For longer ranges, Work Planner switches to monthly grouping to keep the chart readable.
- All Time: This also becomes a monthly view.
How to Use It
- Find the cause of a headline number: If Net Cash Flow or Total Revenue feels surprising, this chart often shows why.
- Compare money streams: It is especially helpful when expenses or refunds are changing the shape of the period.
