Weather Forecast

The Met Office forecast where your business is, for the week ahead on the Dashboard and on each day of the Planner, with each day hour by hour.

Work Planner Team29 October 2026

Work Planner shows the Met Office forecast for where your business is, so you can see rain and wind coming before you plan the week. It covers today and the six days after it: the week ahead on the Dashboard, and a weather symbol on each of those days on the Planner. Click any day for its weather through the working day.

Where the Forecast Is For

Your business is placed by its address in Settings > Organisation Information: the exact spot when the address was picked with Find Address, otherwise the centre of its postcode. The forecast is for the Met Office forecast point nearest to that, which the day's popup names, such as Forecast for Leeds. If the address can't be placed, such as when there's no postcode or it's an Eircode typed in by hand, the Dashboard asks you to add your business address instead: choose it with Find Address and the forecast follows. With more than one business selected, the forecast is for the first one.

On the Dashboard

The Weather widget lists the seven days in a row, starting with Today.

  • Symbol: The Met Office's weather for the day, such as sun, cloud, showers, rain, snow or thunder.
  • Temperatures: The day's high, then the overnight low, in °C.
  • Chance of rain: How likely rain, or snow, is during the day, such as 60%.
  • A day: Click it to open its popup, described below.

The widget is on by default, and like any widget you can hide it or move it with Edit Layout. A hidden widget doesn't fetch the forecast. While the Met Office can't be reached, the widget keeps out of the way until it can.

On the Planner

Each day the forecast reaches has a weather symbol at the end of its totals, after the number of jobs and their value. Hover over it for the day in a line, such as Light rain, 14° high, 8° low, 60% chance of rain, and click or tap it for the day's popup. Days further ahead than the forecast, days gone by and the Overdue column have no symbol. It shows in the column views and the day view.

The Day's Weather Popup

  • At a glance: The symbol, the Met Office's description, such as Light rain shower or Overcast, the high and low, and what the high will feel like.
  • Chance of rain: How likely rain is during the day.
  • Wind and Gusts: The wind around midday in mph, with where it blows from, such as 11 mph SW, and its strongest gusts. Worth a look before ladder work.
  • UV: How strong the sun is, from Low to Extreme, with the UV index.
  • Humidity: How damp the air is around midday. Windows dry more slowly when it's high.
  • Through the day: From 6am to 9pm, every hour today and tomorrow and every three hours after that, each with its symbol, temperature, chance of rain and wind. Today starts from the current hour, and late in the evening the popup says that's all the forecast for today.

The bottom of the popup says Powered by Met Office data and when the Met Office last updated the forecast.

How Up to Date It Is

The Met Office updates its forecasts through the day. Work Planner fetches yours when someone looks, keeps it for up to three hours, and an open Dashboard or Planner checks again every hour.
