Team Member Role Update Flow

How to change a teammate role from the Team screen and how those changes stay scoped to the business shown on that row.

Work Planner TeamApril 12, 2026

Role changes happen directly on the Team screen from the dropdown shown on each teammate row. This is a quick business-level change, not a whole-account change.

What The Dropdown Is Changing

  • One business row at a time: the dropdown only changes the business shown on that row. If the same person works in two businesses, you may need to update each row separately.
  • Available roles: the dropdown only shows roles that are valid and assignable for that business.
  • No owner assignment: owner is intentionally not offered as an assignable choice.

Rows That Cannot Be Edited

  • Your own row: the current signed-in user sees a plain text role label instead of a dropdown.
  • Permission-restricted rows: if you do not have team-update permission, the edit control is not available.

What Happens After You Change It

  • Immediate save: selecting a new role sends the change straight away.
  • Team reload: after a successful save, the Team screen reloads so the row reflects the new role cleanly.
  • Permission scope: the teammate keeps their other business roles unless you change those rows too.
