Squeegee Import Flow
How to upload a Squeegee backup, choose the target business, and start the import.
The Squeegee import page follows the same structure as the other import screens, but the expected backup format is different. Use this page when your source data is coming from Squeegee rather than Cleaner Planner.
Fields And Controls On The Page
- Business: choose the business that should receive the imported Squeegee data when the selector is shown.
- Upload File: this upload area is configured for the Squeegee backup route.
- Help text: tells you to use a .sqg backup file and reminds you about the 50MB maximum size. The screen also accepts supported backup archives where applicable.
- Invite your Squeegee team: tick this to email an invitation to anyone on your Squeegee team who isn't in this business yet. Admins come across as admins, planners as members and everyone else as workers, and you can change their role once they join. Invitations stop when your plan has no more users to add.
- Turn on VAT if Squeegee charges it: tick this if you're VAT registered. When your latest Squeegee invoices charge VAT, VAT is turned on here and each job's price is stored without VAT, with VAT added at the rate Squeegee charges, so customers pay what they did before. Squeegee's backup doesn't include your VAT number, so add it in Organisation Information afterwards.
- Upload & Import: starts the import for the selected business.
- Cancel: takes you back to Settings before the import begins.
What File To Use
For a normal Squeegee import, choose the exported .sqg backup file. Work Planner validates the provider and the file type before it starts processing, so using the correct backup here saves time and avoids failed uploads.
Backups Larger Than 50MB
You can upload a backup of up to 50MB. A Squeegee backup with years of history behind it can be bigger than that, and if you choose one, the page tells you straight away, before anything is uploaded. Create a support ticket from Support in your user menu, or email help@work-planner.co.uk, and we'll do the import for you. It shows in your activity log like any other import.
What Comes Across From Squeegee
- Customers and jobs: each customer keeps their contact details and whether they prefer email or texts. Each job keeps its round, service, price, schedule and time of day, and the date it was last done. It is next due on its Squeegee schedule, or on the visit Squeegee already has planned for it. Any hazards Squeegee notes for a job show on its worksheet.
- Inactive customers and jobs: a customer Squeegee lists as inactive comes across cancelled, along with their jobs, so they stay off your planner. A job Squeegee lists as inactive comes across suspended.
- Customers you deleted: Squeegee keeps the customers you delete. Any you charged or took payments from come across cancelled, so you keep their payment history and anything they still owe, which shows on Debts under Show Inactive. Deleted customers with no payment history, and duplicate copies of a current customer, are left out.
- Balances and history: every invoice, payment, credit and write-off comes across, including the older ones Squeegee has tidied into a summary, so each customer owes exactly what Squeegee shows. Charges you emailed to customers come across as invoices, and each keeps the payment reference printed on it, so you can search Transactions for the reference a customer quotes when they pay.
- Expenses: everything you recorded spending in Squeegee comes across under the same expense categories.
- Missed visits: visits skipped in Squeegee come across as missed, with the reason given, so your reports show the work that was lost.
- Direct Debits: customers paying by GoCardless Direct Debit are linked to it, ready to be checked once you connect GoCardless.
- Quotes: each quote keeps its Squeegee number, what it offers and its price, and whether it was sent, accepted or declined. A quote for someone who is now a customer comes across confirmed, and the job it became is linked to it.
- Messages: the emails and texts Squeegee sent your customers, and the texts they sent back, come across as each customer's communications history.
Anything else you deleted in Squeegee is left out. The summary at the end of the import says how many deleted customers came across and how many were left out.
What The Business Field Controls
The business field decides where the imported customers, jobs, services, worksheets, and transactions will be created. Imports are scoped to that business, so it is worth double-checking the selector before you click Upload & Import.
