Blog Category Popup

How the category popup works when you create, review, or edit a blog category.

Work Planner TeamApril 13, 2026

The category popup is used for three jobs: reviewing an existing category, creating a new one, and editing a saved one. You can open it from the Categories tab or from the post editor with the New category button.

When You Open It In Review Mode

  • Name: the saved category label.
  • Slug: the URL-friendly version of the name.
  • Posts: a list of posts already assigned to the category, or a note that nothing is using it yet.
  • Edit: switches the popup into edit mode.

Fields In Create Or Edit Mode

  • Category name: the label shown in the editor and anywhere the category name is surfaced publicly.
  • Slug: the URL-friendly version used behind the scenes for that category.
  • Use suggested slug: fills the slug from the current category name so you do not have to type it manually.

A Sensible Way To Fill It In

Write the name first, then use the suggested slug button unless you already know you need a different URL-friendly version. Keep names broad enough that several posts can live under the same category.
