Blog Categories
How the Categories tab works and when to use categories instead of tags on your website blog.
Open the Categories tab in the website blog area to manage the broad topic groups used by blog posts. Categories are best for the main buckets your content falls into, such as Advice, Company News, or Seasonal Work.
What The Categories Tab Shows
- Name: the category label you will tick in the post editor.
- Slug: the URL-friendly version of that category name.
- Posts: how many posts are currently using the category.
- New category: opens the popup for creating another category.
When To Use A Category
- Use categories for broad themes: they should make sense across many posts.
- Keep the list tidy: too many overlapping categories make the post editor harder to use.
- Use tags for detail: if the label feels too specific or temporary, it is usually better as a tag.
