Creating a Job from a Worksheet

How the worksheet create-job popup works and which fields are needed before the new job is added back into the worksheet.

Work Planner TeamApril 12, 2026

When the job you need is not already in Work Planner, the worksheet can create it in place instead of sending you out to another screen first. Once the job saves successfully, Work Planner adds it straight back into the worksheet for you.

Fields in the Popup

  • Reference: Use this if your team needs a recognisable code or external reference on the job. If you do not use manual references, leave it empty.
  • Customer: This is required. The job cannot exist without belonging to a customer.
  • Service: This is also required. It gives the job its work type and helps later pricing, filtering, and reporting.
  • Round: Optional. Use it when the job should already belong to a round or route grouping.
  • Payment Method: Optional. Use it if the job already has a usual payment route and you want that carried in from the start.

Why These Fields Matter Later

  • Customer and service: These are what make the job meaningful in lists, filters, worksheets, and future scheduling.
  • Round: Helps if the worksheet is already being shaped around route order.
  • Payment Method: Saves time later when payment and completion fields are being filled in on worksheet items.

After Save

The new job is added back into the worksheet automatically. That means you can keep building the worksheet without reopening a selector and searching for the new job again.
