Time Off Requests
How requests for time off reach whoever manages time off, how to approve or decline them, and how people hear the answer.
When someone asks for time off, everyone whose role includes Manage Time Off and Working Days hears about it: owners and admins, to begin with. The request waits until one of them answers.
Where Requests Show
- Notification: A push notification says who asked for what, and when. Tapping it opens the request.
- The bell: The Time off requests section lists requests waiting, with Approve and Decline. They count in the bell until they're answered, even with that notification turned off, because they're work to do. See the notifications bell.
- Team › Availability: The Waiting for approval card above the grid, and the dashed days in the grid itself.
Answering a Request
- Approve: The time off is booked and the person is told.
- Decline: You can give a reason, such as being short that week. The person is told, with the reason.
- See who else is off: Open the request for its details: they list anyone else off over the same days.
If someone else answers the same request just before you, you're told who did and the request updates. When someone leaves your team, any requests of theirs still waiting are cancelled.
How People Hear the Answer
The person gets a notification when their time off is approved or declined, and when someone else books, changes or cancels time off for them. They can turn these off with My time off in Notification Settings; managers can turn off Time off requests there too.
