Update-Date Flow
How the planner Update Date action works for selected jobs and how it affects future scheduling.
Update Date is the batch date-change tool on the planner selection bar. It is useful when several jobs all need the same new due date and dragging them one by one would be slower or less precise.
How to Open It
- Select jobs first: The action only works on selected jobs. If nothing is ticked, the button stays unavailable.
- Selection bar: Once jobs are selected, use Update Date from the action bar shown above the planner columns.
Inside the Popup
- New Due Date: This is the only field. It becomes the new due date for every selected job in the batch.
- When to leave it alone: If the jobs need different dates, use drag-and-drop or update them individually instead. This flow is designed for one shared replacement date.
What Happens After Save
- Planner refresh: The selected jobs move to their new date and the old dates are refreshed so the planner stays accurate.
- Selection clears: Work Planner clears the selection after a successful update so you do not accidentally run the same batch action again.
- Scheduled jobs recalculate forward: Planner warns that the next due date is recalculated from the schedule settings. That matters most on recurring jobs, because the update affects future planning as well as the immediate due date.
- Overdue column updates: If any selected jobs were overdue, the overdue column refreshes as part of the same change.
When This Is Better Than Dragging
- One exact date for many jobs: Easier than dragging a large mixed selection.
- Keyboard-friendly change: Useful when you know the exact date already and do not want to rely on a visual drop target.
