Transfer Jobs Popup
How to move jobs into another business, what the transfer date and destination status do, and what happens to the source record afterwards.
Transfer jobs is for moving ownership of selected jobs into another business in the same account. This is not the same as reassigning work inside one team. Once a job is transferred, the source copy becomes a transferred record rather than the live working copy.
Opening the Popup
- Selection: Start by selecting the jobs in the Jobs list.
- Availability: The transfer action only appears when your account has more than one business available and your user has permission to transfer jobs.
- Destination list: Work Planner loads the businesses you are allowed to transfer into and leaves out the current source business.
What Each Field Does
- Destination business: This is the business that will own the jobs after the transfer.
- Destination job status: Choose the status the transferred jobs should have in the destination business. This is helpful when the work should arrive as active, suspended, cancelled, or another permitted status straight away.
- Transfer date: This becomes the date used for the transfer activity. If you are moving work as part of a business changeover, set this to the real handover date rather than just leaving today by default.
What Happens After Transfer
- Source jobs become transferred: The original jobs are marked as transferred and are no longer the live editable records in the source business.
- Destination jobs become the live copy: The destination business receives the transferred jobs with the status you chose in the popup.
- Audit trail: The transfer date and transfer history matter later when someone is checking where the work went and when ownership changed.
When to Use This
- Business ownership change: Use it when one branch, team, or business is taking over the work from another.
- Clean business split: Useful when the jobs genuinely belong in another business for reporting, operations, and future editing.
- When not to use it: If the job is staying in the same business and only the team member, worksheet, or date is changing, use the normal planning or worksheet tools instead.
