Jobs Map Popup

See every job in your filtered Jobs list on a map, read each pin's summary, open jobs from the map, and understand how jobs without a saved location are placed in Work Planner.

Work Planner Team30 September 2026

View on Map sits at the top of the Jobs list, next to More Actions. It opens a large popup with the jobs the list is showing pinned on a map, so you can see where the work is before you plan a day or build a worksheet.

Which Jobs Are On The Map

The map follows the list. Whatever you have searched for, and whichever status, round, service, payment method, equipment, business, due date or summary card filter is applied, the same jobs appear on the map. Paging does not apply: if 100 jobs match and the list shows 10 per page, all 100 are on the map.

  • Changing what is mapped: the map is built when it opens. Close it, adjust the search or filters on the list, then open it again.
  • The line under the title: shows how many of the matching jobs are on the map, such as 118 of 125 jobs on the map, and how many of those are approximate.
  • Very large lists: up to 10,000 jobs are mapped at once. If more match, the popup says so, and narrowing the filters brings the rest into view.

Reading The Map

  • Pins: each pin is a job, in its round's colour. A pin is grey when the round has no colour, or when jobs from different rounds share the same spot. If your business calls rounds something else, the popup uses your wording.
  • Numbered pins: several jobs at exactly the same place, such as a customer with more than one job, or jobs placed at the same postcode.
  • Numbered circles: when you are zoomed out, jobs close together are grouped into a circle showing how many it holds. Click it, or zoom in, to split it up.
  • Moving around: drag to move, scroll or pinch to zoom, or use the + and - buttons in the corner.

Job Summaries

Hover over a pin to see a summary of the job. On a phone or tablet, tap the pin instead.

  • Title: follows your Record Labels setting, so the job is named the way your team recognises it: by customer name, address, or reference.
  • Address: shown under the title unless the title is already the address. A job with its own address uses it, and anything the job leaves blank comes from the customer.
  • Frequency: how often the job repeats, such as 4 Weekly, or One-off or Not scheduled.
  • Price: what the job is currently charged at, including VAT, as in the Price column on the list.
  • Round: the round the job belongs to, with its colour.
  • Due: the job's due date, as in the Due column on the list.

Opening A Job

Click a pin to open that job in the job popup, on top of the map. If the pin holds several jobs, clicking it keeps the summary open with every job listed, each with its own View job link. On a phone or tablet, tap the pin to see the summary, then tap View job.

When you close the job, the map picks up any changes, such as a new address, and the Jobs list behind it refreshes too.

Exact And Approximate Locations

A job is placed exactly when a location has been saved for it. That happens when an address is picked with Address Lookup on the job or customer, or when jobs are imported with their locations. A job at its own address uses the location saved on the job, and a job at the customer's address uses the customer's.

Jobs without a saved location are placed another way, in this order:

  • By postcode: a postcode in England, Scotland or Wales puts the job at the centre of the postcode. A postcode usually covers a handful of neighbouring properties, so the pin is close to the job but not on the exact door.
  • By address: when there is no postcode, or it can't be used, Work Planner looks up the whole address instead. This works for addresses across the UK and Ireland, and copes with house numbers written after the street, such as The Hawthorns 03. When the building is found the pin is exact, and when only the street is found the pin sits in the middle of the street.
  • By village or town: when neither the building nor the street can be found, such as a house name with no street, the pin goes at the centre of the village or town in the address.
  • Approximate pins: pins at the centre of a postcode, a street, a village or a town are fainter, with a coloured edge, and their summary says Approximate location.
  • The first open: the map can take a moment to appear the first time, while new addresses are looked up.
  • Nothing is saved to the job: these locations are only used to draw the map. They are never saved to the job or customer, so nothing else in Work Planner treats them as exact, and an address you change is simply looked up again.
  • Placing a job exactly: open the job or customer and pick the address with Address Lookup. The next time you open the map, the pin moves to the saved location.

Jobs Not On The Map

When some matching jobs can't be placed, a section under the map says how many and lists them, grouped by the reason. Each job has a View job link so you can fix it straight away.

  • No address: neither the job nor its customer has an address. Add one, or use Address Lookup.
  • Address not found: not even the village or town in the address could be found. Check it for typos, or use Address Lookup on the job or customer to pick it.
  • Still being placed: the first time a map includes a lot of new addresses, some are placed on the next go. Click Refresh to place the rest.
  • Location lookup unavailable: the location lookup couldn't be reached. Click Refresh to try again.

If The Button Is Greyed Out Or Missing

  • Greyed out: no jobs match the current search and filters, so there is nothing to map.
  • Missing: the map isn't available at the moment. The rest of the Jobs list works as normal.
