Transferred-Customer Behavior

How transferred customers behave in filters, detail views, and edit protection across the tenant app.

A customer with a status of Transferred is no longer a normal live record in the current business. Work Planner keeps the customer visible for reference where needed, but it stops treating that record as something the current business should keep editing.

Where Transferred Customers Appear

  • Not in the default customer list: Active customers are the normal default view.
  • Not in the All Statuses shortcut: All Statuses brings together active and cancelled customers, but transferred customers still need their own explicit filter.
  • Visible with the Transferred filter: Use the customer filters popup when you need to review transferred customers on purpose.

What the Warning Means

  • Transfer banner: The customer detail view shows a warning telling you which business now owns the customer and when the transfer happened.
  • Why it matters: It explains why the normal edit path has disappeared and makes it clear that ownership has moved.

What Is Blocked

  • Editing the customer: Work Planner blocks edits once the customer has been transferred.
  • Related editing flows: The same protection can carry into linked transaction or customer-based editing flows so the transferred record does not get changed by mistake from somewhere else.
  • Create actions tied to that customer: Parts of the customer record that normally allow new activity are more restrictive because the record is no longer meant to be actively worked inside the old business.

Why the Protection Exists

The transfer guard is there to keep one customer record from being edited in two businesses at once. Without that protection, balances, jobs, and payment setup could drift apart between the old business and the new one.
