Equipment Popup
How to add, edit, or view a single piece of equipment using the popup that opens from the equipment list and selectors.
The equipment popup is the single form Work Planner uses for creating, editing, and viewing a piece of equipment. It opens from the New Equipment button on the equipment list, by clicking a row to view it, or from the equipment selector inside a job form.
Information Tab
- Name: The label your team will see on jobs, worksheet item cards, and Planner tooltips. It is required.
- Color: A colour picker that ties the equipment to a visual swatch. The chosen colour drives the initial avatar on the list and the small dot shown next to the equipment name everywhere it appears. Leave it as the default if you do not need colour coding.
Business Tab
The business tab only appears when you operate more than one business and you are creating new equipment. Pick the business the equipment belongs to. When you are editing an existing record, the business cannot be changed from this popup; delete and re-create the equipment if it needs to move.
Save and Validation
- Name required: Save is blocked if the name is empty. The popup highlights the tab containing any field that failed validation so the error is easy to find.
- Tab indicators: Each tab shows a status dot. Warnings turn it amber, completed inputs turn it green, untouched tabs stay neutral.
Editing or Viewing Existing Equipment
- Read-only mode: Opening the popup from a row click on the list shows the record without editable fields. Use the Edit button to switch into the editable popup.
- Detail content: The view shows name, business when relevant, colour with a live swatch, and the created and updated dates.
