Template Distribution and Use-Case Fields
What Use Full Page and Distribution Types do, and how they change the editor and later document actions.
Two settings on the create and edit screens do a lot of heavy lifting: Use full page and Distribution Types. These choices affect both how the template is edited now and how it is used later when Work Planner prints or sends documents.
Use Full Page
- Turned on: Each document is printed on its own page.
- Turned off: Work Planner can fit multiple documents onto the same page where that output allows it, such as smaller job-style document grids.
- When to use it: Turn it on for larger full-page outputs, and leave it off when you want compact slip-style output.
Distribution Types
- Print: Marks the template as suitable for printed output.
- Email: Marks the template as suitable for email-style sending.
- Text: Marks the template as suitable for text-message content.
- Combinations: You can choose more than one method. Under the hood, Work Planner stores these as a combined flag value, which is why a template can support print and email together.
How Distribution Changes the Screen
- Text only selected: The rich document editor is replaced with a plain text box for SMS-style content.
- Print and email style templates: The visual and HTML template editor stays available so you can work with richer layout content.
- At least one choice: A template needs at least one distribution method selected before it can be saved properly.
Special Cases to Know About
- Default create state: New templates start with print and email selected together unless you change that.
- Text-only seeded templates: The special seeded template We are coming tomorrow resets back to text-only distribution and plain text content.
