Invoice Selector Popup
How the invoice picker works from the debt payment and write-off popups, including search, replacement, and creating a new invoice from the selector.
The invoice selector popup appears from the debt payment and write-off flows when you want the entry tied to a specific invoice. It is there to help you choose the right open invoice without leaving the debt workflow.
What the Popup Shows
- Title: The popup opens as Select Invoice so it is clear you are only choosing the invoice, not editing the payment or write-off itself.
- Current selection summary: If an invoice is already attached to the parent form, Work Planner shows it at the top before you make a new choice.
- Search: Use this to search invoices quickly when the customer has several open documents.
- Columns: The table shows Invoice, Status, and Balance Due so you can match the right invoice before selecting it.
Which Invoices Appear
- Customer-scoped results: The popup is limited to invoices belonging to the same customer as the debt you opened.
- Open and sent only: Closed invoice states are not offered here, because payments and write-offs can only be allocated to invoices that are still live.
- Single-invoice shortcut: If Work Planner can already see exactly one open invoice for that debt, the parent form usually pre-fills it before you even open the popup.
Choosing or Replacing an Invoice
- Select: Click the row you want and confirm with Select at the bottom.
- Replace confirmation: If the parent form already has an invoice selected and you choose a different one, Work Planner asks you to confirm the replacement instead of silently switching it.
- Balance due check: The amount is shown in the table for a reason. It helps you avoid allocating a payment or write-off against an invoice that cannot absorb the amount.
Add New Invoice
Use Add New Invoice in the popup header when the right invoice does not exist yet. Work Planner opens the invoice create popup, and once the new invoice is saved it can come straight back as the selected invoice in the debt flow.
After You Confirm
The chosen invoice is written back into the payment or write-off popup. If you change your mind afterwards, use the Clear button on that parent field to remove the allocation again.
