GoCardless Confirmation and Cancel-Recreate Flow

How Work Planner handles pending GoCardless setup links, blocked setup attempts, and the cancel-and-create-new route.

Once a Direct Debit setup link already exists, the debt popup stops being just a creation screen and becomes a follow-up screen as well. This is where you confirm what has already been sent, resend the link, or replace it with a new one.

When a Setup Link Is Already Pending

  • Setup link already sent: Work Planner shows a dedicated alert when it can see a pending setup request for that customer.
  • Sent time: The popup shows when the link was sent, which helps when you are checking whether the customer has had long enough to act on it.
  • Copy Link: Use this when you want to resend the exact same link manually outside the popup.
  • Resend routes: The usual email and text buttons remain available so you can send the same setup link again through the shared communication popups.

When Setup Was Blocked

  • Setup blocked: If GoCardless reports a blocked or failed setup, Work Planner shows that clearly instead of leaving you wondering why nothing progressed.
  • Failure reason: When GoCardless has returned a reason, Work Planner surfaces that message in the popup so you can decide whether to correct details or simply issue a fresh link.

Cancel & Create New

  • When to use it: Use Cancel & Create New when the old setup link should not be used any more, for example because it was lost, has gone stale, or failed in a way that needs a clean restart.
  • Confirmation step: Work Planner asks you to confirm before it cancels the existing pending request.
  • What happens next: The old pending setup link is cancelled, a new live link is created, and the popup switches over to that fresh URL.

When This Flow Stops Being Relevant

Once the customer has completed setup and the mandate becomes active, you usually move out of the setup-confirmation flow and into the normal GoCardless payment route instead.
