Expense Category Details
What appears in the Expense Category details popup and what each section is telling you.
Open a custom row from Settings > Expense Categories to view its details popup. This is the quickest way to confirm exactly what category record you are looking at before deciding whether to edit it.
What the Popup Shows
- Name: The live label used for the category.
- Business: Appears in multi-business setups so you can confirm which business owns the category.
- Type: Shows whether the category is System or Custom.
- Color: Shows both a swatch and the saved hex colour value.
- Dates: Shows the created date and the most recent updated date.
Edit Button
- Custom categories: Show an Edit button so you can jump straight into the edit popup.
- System categories: Do not use the same normal edit flow from the list, which is why they need a little more caution before changing anything around them.
Why the Popup Is Useful
The details popup is a good checkpoint when you are checking whether a category belongs to the right business, whether it is protected, or whether a colour or naming issue really needs editing. It is also the easiest place to see the created and updated dates together.
