This article explains how to use creating a document template in Work Planner, including the main fields that shape how the document templates record behaves once it is saved.
When to use this
Use this article when you are adding something new and want a clearer explanation of the fields and decisions on the create flow.
How it fits into the flow
Creating a document template sits within Settings / Document Templates. It is designed to work alongside related articles such as Document template preview and send workflow, Document templates list, Editing a document template, so users can move through the workflow without relying on one giant reference page.
Main actions
- Work through the form from top to bottom and check the values that affect downstream scheduling, pricing, or communication.
- Review any required fields before saving so the record is created or updated cleanly.
- Use the surrounding actions to return to the list or continue the workflow once the form is saved.
- Common on-screen actions include Cancel.
Important fields
- Name: Look for input such as “Template name”.
- Description: Look for input such as “Template description”.
- Use full page: When enabled, each document will be printed on its own page. When disabled, multiple documents will be fitted on the same page (e.g., 2x2 grid for job documents).
- Print: Turn this option on only when it applies to the current workflow.
- Email: Turn this option on only when it applies to the current workflow.
- Text: Turn this option on only when it applies to the current workflow.
- Validation: Name: Required. Text value. Maximum 255 characters.
- Validation: Description: Optional. Text value.
