Choosing Your Job Collection Term

How the job collection term works, when to use the built-in options, and what changes elsewhere in Work Planner after you save it.

The What do you call a collection of jobs? field changes the language Work Planner uses for one of your main planning groups. If you choose Round, you will keep seeing round wording. If you choose something else, the app switches to that term for this business.

Built-In Options

The onboarding list includes Round, Zone, Area, Region, Patch, Catchment, Route, and Other. Use one of the built-in options when your team already uses that word day to day, because it keeps onboarding fast and consistent.

Using Other

Choose Other when none of the built-in terms matches the way your business talks. That reveals the Custom Term field. Type the singular word you want Work Planner to use, such as District or Run.

  • Custom Term: use this only when Other is selected. If you leave it blank, the business will not have a useful custom label to work from.
  • Keep it singular: enter the base word rather than the plural version. Work Planner stores the singular and builds the plural form from it for later screens.

What This Choice Affects Later

  • Onboarding labels: the manual setup section immediately changes to match your choice, so Round Name becomes something like Route Name or Area Name.
  • Navigation and headings: the same term carries into the rest of the business once onboarding is complete.
  • Related forms and documentation: places that refer to your job grouping follow the business terminology, so users see familiar wording instead of being forced into Work Planner's default language.

When To Leave It As Round

Leave the field on Round if your business already uses round language, or if you are not sure yet. It is the safest option because the rest of the product and the imported data examples naturally fit it well.
