Payment Method Selector Popup
How the payment method picker works during debt payments, including search, replacement, fee impact, and adding a new method without leaving the flow.
The payment method selector popup sits behind the Payment Method field in the debt payment form. It is where you choose the method that actually received the money, such as cash, bank transfer, card, or any custom method you have set up.
What the Popup Shows
- Current selection summary: If the payment form already has a method selected, Work Planner shows that at the top before you make any change.
- Search: Use this when you have a longer list of payment methods and want to jump straight to one by name.
- Business column: On multi-business logins, Work Planner can add a business column so you can tell which payment method belongs to which business.
- Add New Payment Method: The header button opens the payment method create popup without forcing you to leave the debt payment flow.
Choosing the Right Method
- Match the real payment: Choose the method the customer actually used, not just the one you prefer to report against.
- Required field: Manual debt payments cannot be saved without a payment method.
- Replace confirmation: If a different method was already selected, Work Planner asks you to confirm before it swaps the choice.
Why the Choice Matters
- Payment Fee: The selector feeds the read-only Payment Fee line in the payment form. If the chosen method carries fixed or percentage fees, Work Planner calculates that fee automatically.
- Job default update: After the payment is saved, the chosen method is written back onto the job, so the same method appears as the default next time.
- Reporting: The saved method flows into later payment reporting and any dashboard or accounts views grouped by payment method.
Adding a New Method on the Spot
If the method does not exist yet, use Add New Payment Method. Once the new method is saved, Work Planner can return you to the selector with that new method already chosen, so you do not need to start the payment again.
